This has been an amazing year. I’ve seen the release of my first two books in the Tidewater series. Sold book three and a novella in the series. Attended my first Romantic Times convention. Visited Texas for the first time. Sure, I got lost in San Antonio, but I get lost everywhere I go, so that’s nothing new. 🙂
Best of all, I had another year with my family. No one passed away, developed cancer, or otherwise disappeared from my life this year. My children made the Principal’s List (elementary school’s answer to the Dean’s List) all year. One niece learned to drive, another was accepted to her second choice college with a huge scholarship, and the others are all doing very well in school.
There have been bad things in the world, I’m not forgetting that, but for the next two days, my focus is on the good things in life. It’s so easy to see only the ugly and the bad in the world and forget about all that’s wonderful.
Like my younger child making a Chex Mix desert all on his own yesterday. Or my older child qualifying to sing in the district chorus this year. Or the way my father-in-law sends his four youngest grandchildren into fits of giggles because he acts like a big kid himself.
So this year, as we sit around the Thanksgiving table, I’m grateful for walks on the beach, healthy dogs, happy children, loving relatives, food to eat, a place to live, Christmas movies, being under contract, deadlines, my agent, my editor, my friends, and most definitely…my family.
What about you? What are you grateful for this Thanksgiving?
