I had this big plan to get the children on the bus in the morning, then drive to my local library for some undisturbed peace so I could write. Just one problem. My local library is under construction. And it’s temporarily being housed in the old middle school.
Not a bad place to go in a pinch, but not exactly what I had in mind for a writing excursion. So I had to rethink my plan. The next nearest library is about 20 miles away. Again, not ideal. I could spend close to an hour driving round trip. That’s time I’d rather spend writing.
So I tried something novel this morning. I shut off all the phones in my house and disconnected the internet. What do you know?! I managed to churn out over two thousand words today. And I feel great! I wasn’t sure it would work, simply shutting off the electronics but it honestly helped.
And best of all, I was able to work in the comfort of my home office. Yay! 🙂
So what do you do to clear your mind of clutter in order to write?
